5 Ways to Conserve Water

Water is one of the most important natural resources for us humans. And as time goes by, water will be finite. And we must find ways and do something about it to conserve water as much as possible. In this article, I will show you 5 ways to conserve water on our planet.

Make use of the rain

Collecting rainwater for later use can save you a ton of money paying for water bills. There are a lot of things you can do with rainwater. Some of these are:

  • Watering your plants
  • Washing your car
  • Flushing up the toilet
  • Cleaning other furniture
  • Taking a bath
  • Laundry Check for leaks

Check your kitchen pipes or your bathroom sinks for leaks. 20 gallons per day can be wasted from a small drip of a worn faucet. Now, imagine if it is a large leak. It can probably waste hundreds of gallons a day! Check every pipe inside and outside of the house.

Do laundry and dishwashing when it’s loaded

Even if you have a high-efficiency washing machine, only use it when you have loads of laundry to do. Unlike if you wash clothes by half, you are wasting that water on that washing machine. The same goes with dishwashing. You can save gallons of water when you wash dishes at the same time.

Take shorter showers

One of the easiest ways to conserve water in the bathroom is to shower in a shorter time. Experts have said that a 5-minute shower already gives you a lot of time to scrub your body and rinse your hair. You can also turn off the shower while rinsing to conserve water. Also, you can set up a shower timer to keep your showers short. If you don’t have one, you can use the one on your phone.

Use a composting toilet

Using a compost toilet is one of the best ways to conserve water in your bathroom since it requires no water at all. You can also recycle your waste into compost.
